PedniGo: Distribution channel for self-published authors

Distribution channel margins across industries (as a percentage of product price): FMCG: 11% to 35%; Clothing: 30% to 60%; Electronics: 6% to 14%; Cars: 5 to 15%; Furniture: 30% to 50%; Jewelry: 30% to 60%; Electrical equipment: 20% to 32%; Publishing: 30% to 65% (Source: allianceexperts.com)

Where the Indian publishing industry is concerned, channel margins on Amazon are 40% for bound books and range from 30% to 65% for e-books. The traditional bound book distribution channels in India have a margin of 35%. Do note, this does not imply the balance amount goes to the author: while it’s partially true in the case of self-published authors, those who are traditionally published cede further margins to the publisher. Self-published & independent authors face a further complication: barring rare exceptions, traditional book distributors & retailers will not carry our inventory.

PedniGo aims to mitigate these distribution challenges. The first channel PedniGo offers is book fairs, beginning with the Imphal Book Fair scheduled from 26 May 18 to 03 June 18. The fair is being organized by the National Book Trust. If you wish to display your book for sale at PedniGo’s stall at the Imphal Book Fair, get in touch at the earliest.

Rest assured, PedniGo is fully aligned with your interests as a self-published or independent author. Together, we can bring your book to Indian readers.

Why didn't I include comments natively on pedni? Spam. Commenting systems try to get around the problem with inefficient solutions which annoy readers who are keen to have their say in the easiest way possible. While messaging your comments isn't the ideal solution, it will definitely resolve the problem of spam. And I promise to publish all comments, be they critical or supportive of my work.
